Kuumba, a Bay Area company dedicated to West African dance and drumming, brings the rhythms and movement of West Africa to the stage for a joyful, high-energy, interactive program. Young audience members will experience traditional drum rhythms, clap along, and get out of their seats to join the dancing.
Founded by Tiye Garrett in 2022, Kuumba takes its name from the sixth principle of Kwanzaa, a Swahili word meaning “creativity.” Through African dance and music, the company spreads joy and inspires creative expression.
This concert is made possible by the generous support of Kenneth and Deborah Novack.
Additional support provided by Napa Valley College and Napa Valley Education Foundation.
