Kuumba

Kuumba LLC is a small Bay Area business focused on West African dance and rhythms, founded by Tiye Garrett in 2022. Kuumba is the sixth principle of Kwanzaa, meaning "creativity" in Swahili. It indicates that we “always do as much as we can, in the way we can, to leave our community more beautiful than when we inherited it."

Kuumba LLC’s mission is to spread joy through African Dancing & drumming, providing spaces for creativity to thrive. Throughout the year, the organization provides dance classes, drum circles, and performances for events within K-12 schools, colleges, businesses, and organizations in the Bay Area and San Joaquin Valley.
