Special Guests
M.F.K. Fisher’s younger daughter, Kennedy Golden, spent her childhood enjoying exposure to multiple cultures, while traveling with her mother. After earning an undergraduate degree in Stage Management and a first (25 year) career in theater, she earned a graduate degree in Counseling and Psychology. Both served her well in her 45 year career at the now defunct Mills College in Oakland, California. While at Mills, Kennedy spent many years teaching and helping young women use power equipment and build scenery, eventually transferring her skills to assisting students as they navigated personal and academic challenges in her role as Associate Dean of Students. Her years spent at Mills were filled with many wonderful theatrical and interpersonal experiences.
With plans of eventually becoming a marriage and family therapist, Kennedy worked extensively with elders as end of life issues required attention. Those years were invaluable in preparing her for end of life needs within her own family.
She currently serves as Trustee of the M.F.K. Fisher Literary Trust, enjoying her retirement while supporting M.F.K. Fisher’s legacy, Audubon Canyon Ranch, and Last House. Retirement, which also includes being happily married to her husband Vincent, has seen a move from the Bay Area to living in the Sacramento area, closer to her son Alex who now maintains the MFKFisher.com website.
