A celebration of movement and music, this year’s Dance Gala brings together some of today’s most captivating dancers in an evening of masterworks and bold new creations. Under the artistic direction of Adrian Blake Mitchell, the performance showcases an extraordinary roster of international artists, including Tiler Peck, Roman Mejia, Sasha De Sola, Joe Walsh, and Fabrice Calmels. Highlights include Jerome Robbins’ Other Dances, a lyrical tribute to Chopin’s music, and Gerald Arpino’s Light Rain, a Joffrey Ballet signature pulsing with energy. Constance Stamatiou of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performs an excerpt from Cry in honor of the legendary Judith Jamison. The program also features the highly anticipated world premiere of Favorite Son, choreographed by Adrian Blake Mitchell for Cuban triplets Marcos, Cesar, and Angel Ramirez, with music by Aldo López-Gavilán.
