Cellist Sonya Moomaw has gained national recognition for her expressive musicianship and technical command. She has earned top prizes in major competitions, including the National Sphinx Competition and the Music Teachers National Association Strings Competition, and has been featured on National Public Radio's From the Top. She made her orchestral debut at just eight years old with the University of Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and has since appeared as a soloist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra. She makes her Festival Napa Valley debut in the Bouchaine Young Artist Series.

As a sophomore in high school, Sonya Moomaw is already a decorated cellist, having placed second in the Junior Division of the Annual National Sphinx Competition and first in multiple national competitions. At eight-years-old, Sonya made her orchestral debut, and she also performs as a jazz and bluegrass artist.
