Violinist and online personality Ray Chen redefines what it means to be a classical musician in the 21st century. With a global reach that enhances and inspires new audiences, Chen's remarkable musicianship transmits to millions around the world. A first prize winner of both the Yehudi Menuhin and Queen Elizabeth Competitions, Chen has built a profile in Europe, Asia, the United States, and his native Australia. Signed in 2017 to Decca Classics, his discography has received critical acclaim and an ECHO Klassik Award.
Chen is the co-founder of Tonic, an innovative app that motivates musicians and learners around the world by practicing their craft together. He is also an ambassador for SONY Electronics and a music consultant for Riot Games. He has been featured as “one to watch” by Strad and Gramophone magazines, as well as on the Forbes list of 30 most influential Asians under 30. Accepted to the Curtis Institute of Music at age 15, Chen was supported by Young Concert Artists and previously played the 1714 “Dolphin” Stradivarius, on generous loan from the Nippon Music Foundation. In 2025, Chen began testing many more Stradivari and Guarneri del Gesùs and currently performs on his favorite, a 1727 Stradivarius.
