Join composer, performer, and 2019 Miss America titleholder Nia Imani Franklin in an intimate event celebrating Women in the Arts.
An in-demand composer, Franklin has had her music performed by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Friction Quartet, and others. She was Festival Napa Valley’s 2021 Composer-in-Residence.
With a degree in music from East Carolina University and a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Franklin is a powerful voice for empowering women in music, a mission advanced by "Compose Her," an organization she founded in 2019.
She was a recipient of the William R. Kenan, Jr. Fellowship at Lincoln Center Education, following which she earned the titles Miss New York 2018 and Miss America 2019.
As a recording artist, Franklin’s vocal style ranges from classical to R&B to gospel. She will be performing in concert at San Francisco’s Salesforce Tower on May 15.
“Women in the Arts” showcases nationally recognized artists and innovators in an exclusive and intimate setting at The Meritage Resort and Spa. The 4-course dinners are paired with wine from Peju Winery and featuring Sara Fowler, Vice President of Operations and Wine Making as well as Trinitas Cellars featuring General Manager, Sonyia Grabski. Menu and wine pairings follow.
A portion of the proceeds provides college scholarships for girls from Napa County through the St. Helena Sunrise chapter of Soroptimist International.
