Stefano Cortecci Gem Master

Stefano Cortecci is the Gem Master and Director of Gemstone Purchasing Department at Pomellato, the Milanese brand known for its unmistakable designs. In his career, he has spent over 25 years imparting the brand with his expertise and passion for precious stones, especially those Pomellato calls the "New Precious."
 
He travels all year long to far-flung destinations – from Africa to China to Cambodia – looking for gems, trading with merchants, and securing stock. His astute eye can envision how a raw piece of rock or dull crystal can be cut from a lifeless, opaque stone into a glowing gem; and he is able to see how a rather unknown material could become the next precious thing. He works closely with the Creative Director to bring new stones and creative challenges to Pomellato's designs. He prioritizes quality and sustainability while celebrating the unconventional beauty of Pomellato's colored stones.
