Joel Revzen Conducting Fellowship

We lost a treasured artist and friend last year when Maestro Joel Revzen succumbed to complications from COVID-19.

Revzen’s long, varied, and successful international career included spending much of the last 20 years at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He helped create Festival Orchestra Napa with a core of musicians from the Met along with top players from other renowned orchestras.

He was a beloved faculty member of the Festival’s Blackburn Music Academy, leading students in concerts, master classes, and workshops. His colleagues and students remember him for his kindness, generosity, and joy for life.

In tribute to Maestro Revzen, Festival Napa Valley is honored to announce the Joel Revzen Conducting Fellowship, a career development grant and performance opportunity for a promising young conductor. The Fellowship will be awarded annually. The 2021 Festival Napa Valley Joel Revzen Fellow is Chad Goodman.
