Join us for an exceptional performance as cellist Eileen Moon, along with Polina Sedukh (violin), David Chernyavsky (violin), Marcel Gemperli (viola), and Jonah Kim (cello), present Franz Schubert's celebrated Cello Quintet. Performers
Eileen Moon is the former Associate Principal cellist of the New York Philharmonic, with which she enjoyed 15 years of world class programming, touring, chamber music, and participation in music festivals throughout the country. She is now an active freelance cellist in California and Academy Programs Associate with Festival Napa Valley.
Born to a family of musicians in St. Petersburg, Russia, Polina Sedukh began studying violin at the age of four with her father Grigory Sedukh, and Savely Shalman. She is a graduate of the Special Music School of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, and the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory, where she studied under the guidance of Lev Ivaschenko and Vladimir Ovtcharek. She also holds an Artist Diploma from Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she studied with Laura Bossert and Malcolm Lowe.
David Chernyavsky joined the San Francisco Symphony in 2009. Born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, he began violin studies at the age of six and at eleven gave his first solo recital. After winning prizes in competitions in Russia and France, he entered the Saint Petersburg Conservatory.
Marcel Gemperli (viola) is Principal Violist of the California Symphony and performs regularly with the San Francisco Symphony. He was an acting member of the San Diego Symphony viola section from 2017 until 2022 and has also performed with the orchestras of the San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Ballet, and numerous regional ensembles in the Bay Area.
Jonah Kim made his solo debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at 12-years-old and has since captured the hearts of audiences around the world. Named Artistic Director of Festival San Miguel de Allende in 2023, Kim is also the cellist of Trio Barclay, the ensemble-in-residence at the Barclay Theater in Irvine, California.
