Praised for her “expressive phrasing” and “gleaming tone” (South Florida Classical Review), Victoria Chung is the principal oboe of the Richmond Symphony, a position she has held since 2022. Prior to her appointment in Richmond, she spent one season as a fellow with the New World Symphony under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. She has appeared with leading ensembles including the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Florida Orchestra, and Sejong Soloists.
An active soloist, Victoria’s recent highlights include a 2024 performance of Jennifer Higdon’s Oboe Concerto with the Richmond Symphony, as well as appearances with the National Orchestral Institute and Livingston Symphony Orchestra. Victoria is a frequent participant at major summer festivals, including Classical Tahoe, Music Academy of the West, Spoleto Festival USA, Pacific Music Festival, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Sarasota Chamber Music Festival, and the National Repertory Orchestra. A dedicated educator, Victoria serves on the oboe faculty at the College of William & Mary and the University of Richmond. Victoria earned both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Juilliard School.
