Stéphane Denève is Music Director of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Artistic Director of the New World Symphony, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic. With a special affinity for the music of his native France and a passion for music of our own time, he is a much sought-after guest conductor, appearing at major concert venues worldwide with the world's greatest orchestras and soloists. He recently concluded terms as Principal Guest Conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Music Director of the Brussels Philharmonic, and he previously served as Chief Conductor of Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra and Music Director of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
Denève's recent and upcoming highlights include appearances in the Americas with the New York Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and São Paulo Symphony; in Europe with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, DSO Berlin, Vienna Symphony, BBC Symphony, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National de France and the Czech Philharmonic; in Asia with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, and Seoul Philharmonic; and in Australasia with the Sydney Symphony and New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Denève is a graduate and prize-winner of the Paris Conservatoire.

Festival Napa Valley’s 2025 Summer Season concludes with a symphonic program led by Stéphane Denève. Festival Orchestra Napa performs Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream suite and Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet Suite, with artwork by students and seniors from the Festival’s How I See Music workshops. A grand finale celebration of music and storytelling.
