Pirouz Ebadypour, known as Pirouz de Caspio, was born into an artistically inclined family in Tehran, Iran in 1969. His early musical training in classical theory, solfege, and voice started at age 7, focusing on the violin and later the piano at the Music Institute of Tehran. In 1998, at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, he rediscovered flamenco through an impromptu performance that ignited a lifelong passion. He received formal guitar lessons in flamenco and transitioned to singing, learning from renowned flamenco singers like Cristo Cortes, David Lagos, and Enrique Soto. Pirouz initiated the Jondo Flamenco Festival, founded the Peña Bulería Flamenco Club, and created Flamenco Beat Radio, showcasing his dedication to promoting flamenco. Collaborating with master Ali Ghamsari, he explored fusion with traditional Persian music. Pirouz has also shared the stage with acclaimed flamenco guitarist Antonio Rey, a 2020 Latin GRAMMY® Winner. Rooted in tradition, Pirouz's singing and approach to flamenco draws inspiration from the groundbreaking work of Paco de Lucía and Camarón de la Isla. His commitment to flamenco extends beyond his performance career, reflecting in his diverse contributions to the global flamenco community.
