Peter Wahrhaftig

Peter Wahrhaftig is the principal tuba of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra. In addition, he is the principal tuba of the Sun Valley Music Festival. He is a founding member of the Grammy-nominated group, The Bay Brass, and he has performed with the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera, Israel Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, and many other ensembles. Other notable groups with which he has performed include the Ringling Brothers-Barnum and Bailey Circus, Spoleto Festival, and heavy metal legend Metallica.

Additionally, he is an active recording musician, having appeared on numerous movie and video game soundtracks. He is an enthusiastic educator and chamber musician and has been seen using a cimbasso. His primary teachers were Arnold Jacobs and Floyd Cooley, and he completed his studies at Northwestern University. Peter enjoys spending time with his wife, Rena, and his two kids.
