Miriam Perkoff

Cellist Miriam Perkoff performs frequently with the San Francisco Symphony, Opera, and Ballet orchestras. She co-founded the New Century Chamber Orchestra and the ensemble Stratos, a conductorless chamber orchestra integrating multiple art forms. Stratos’ acclaimed CD is on Warner Bros Records. She was also the founding cellist of The Modern Arts Trio, a California Arts Council and ASCAP  grant recipient. Miriam’s other orchestra and festival appearances include the Grand Teton Music Festival, Sun Valley Summer Symphony, and Midsummer Mozart Festival. Over many years, Miriam has performed as a solo cellist with numerous artists, including Tony Bennett, Liza Minnelli, Smokey Robinson, Josh Groban, Barry Manilow, and Linda Ronstadt.

Miriam received degrees from Indiana University and Yale University. She recorded two CDs with the Yale Cellos, both of which were nominated for a GRAMMY Award. Miriam frequently records film and video game scores at Skywalker Ranch and can be heard on numerous commercial, symphonic and chamber recordings. In addition, Miriam enjoys a full private teaching studio of all ages and levels and is a sought-after chamber and orchestra ensemble coach. She received the Marin Symphony Private Music Teacher Award in 2022.
