Michael Banda

Michael Banda is a baritone, attending the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley studying under the direction of Dr. David Sadlier with a major in Vocal Performance. His accolades include Schmidt Vocal Competition National Finalist, 1st Place at the South Texas Chapter NATS Competition, 1st place at the 2024 Texoma NATS Conference, and he received an Outstanding Performer Distinction in the 2023 and 2024 Texas UIL State Solo and Ensemble Competition. Most recently, he was selected as a Winner with Distinction in Classical Voice, for the 2025 National YoungArts Competition. He was also a recipient of the Herald Stark Award at the South Texas NATS Competition. He has performed scenes with UTRGV Opera Theater and was cast as Schaunard from La Bohème, and Luther from Les Contes d’Hoffman for opera scenes.
