Meng Su is a multifaceted guitarist captivating audiences worldwide with her stunning virtuosity and refined artistry. Praised by New York Concert Review for her “seemingly effortless and stunningly polished” performances and described by Classical Guitar Magazine as a “seasoned artist,” she stands out not only for her technical mastery but also for her engaging stage presence.
In addition to her flourishing solo career, Meng Su is an avid chamber musician, performing internationally with the Beijing Guitar Duo and collaborating with orchestras. She has toured across 30 countries, playing in renowned venues like the Concertgebouw, Palau de Musica, Tchaikovsky Hall, and the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. In 2023, she premiered Spanish Fantasia in Shanghai, a groundbreaking multimedia guitar theatre show, pioneering new directions for classical music performance.
Her recordings, both solo and collaborative, have earned critical acclaim. The Beijing Guitar Duo’s debut album Maracaípe received a Latin GRAMMY® nomination, and their follow-up, Bach to Tan Dun, includes the premiere recording of Tan Dun’s "Eight Memories in Watercolor." Meng’s solo album, Meng, released in 2016, was hailed by Classical Guitar Magazine as “this year’s finest debut by far.”
Born in Qingdao, China, Meng Su trained under Prof. Chen Zhi and later completed her studies with Maestro Manuel Barrueco at the Peabody Conservatory. A winner of numerous international competitions, including the prestigious Parkening International Guitar Competition in 2015, she now teaches at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and serves as Artist-in-Residence for the Baltimore Classical Guitar Society.
