Marcos Ramirez was born in Trinidad, Cuba and began studying ballet at age 10 at the Cuban National Ballet School. Ramirez began his professional career at the age of 17 with the Cuban National Ballet. In 2020, he joined Los Angeles Ballet, where he currently is a lead dancer. Marcos has performed multiples lead roles in classical and contemporary pieces such as Prince Desire in The Sleeping Beauty, the Cavalier Prince in The Nutcracker, Gustave in Lady of the Camellias, Kashchei in Firebird, and other leading roles in contemporary pieces by Christopher Wheeldon, Justin Peck, Anabel López Ochoa, and others. He has also performed in international galas in Italy, Cuba, and the United States. Marcos was awarded first and second place in international competitions in Cuba and first place at the Youth American Grand Prix in Philadelphia. He is the subject of the documentary To Dance Like a Man, which showcases his love and passion for ballet.
