Katrina Walter

Flutist Katrina Walter enjoys a diverse and distinguished career in the Bay Area and beyond. A frequent substitute with the San Francisco Symphony, she has toured internationally, performed on the orchestra’s most recent GRAMMY-winning recording, and collaborated with renowned artists such as Renée Fleming, Itzhak Perlman, Maxwell, and Boyz II Men. When the London Symphony Orchestra toured California, Katrina stepped in for their ailing piccoloist with just one hour’s notice, performing two different programs under Sir Simon Rattle—without rehearsal. She is also briefly featured in a Disney+ documentary on John Williams, performing in a concert conducted by the legendary composer.

Before moving to the Bay Area, Katrina was a member of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, where she worked closely with Michael Tilson Thomas, who praised her as “an extraordinary flute artiste.” She also served as Guest Principal Flute of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, appearing on three of their recordings, including a live performance of “Volière” from Carnival of the Animals.

In addition to performances with the San Francisco Ballet, Opera, and major symphonies such as Saint Louis and Utah, Katrina has earned accolades in competitions sponsored by the New York and Chicago flute clubs, the Flute Society of Washington, and MTNA. Her recitals and concerto performances have been featured on WFMT-Chicago, WNIB, and KDB-FM.
