Ballerina Julia Rowe grew up in rural Pennsylvania, where she trained at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. In the summers during high school, she trained at the San Francisco Ballet School, and she eventually moved to the west coast, joining the Oregon Ballet Theatre in 2008. She danced in the corps de ballet of Oregon Ballet Theatre for two years before being promoted to soloist and continuing with the company for another three years. In 2010, Rowe was nominated for a Princess Grace Award. In 2013, she joined the corps de ballet of San Francisco Ballet, where she was promoted to soloist in 2016 and continues to dance today. At San Francisco Ballet, Rowe is also an inaugural fellow for the Raising Leaders program, which aims to prepare dancers for impactful careers beyond the stage in arts leadership.
