Jessica Phillips is an experienced performer, dedicated educator, and innovative leader in the arts. She has been a member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra clarinet section since 2001. She is currently on faculty at the Juilliard School. Throughout her performance career, Jessica has appeared as guest principal clarinet with the Chicago Symphony, as well as in performances with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Bavarian State Opera Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, and many more. Jessica has also worked closely with Backun Musical Services to create educational YouTube videos and to promote and design products for E-Flat clarinet.
Phillips has served on the Executive Board of New York City’s Local 802 American Federation of Musicians, the Governing Board of the International Conference of Symphonic and Opera Musicians, and the national AFM Steering Committee for negotiations with American Motion Picture & Television Producers. She continues to serve on the boards of The Field and the League of American Orchestras. She is in demand as a guest speaker, presenter, facilitator, and panelist. Jessica received her MBA in Arts Innovation & Entrepreneurship from the Global Leaders Institute, and she graduated cum laude from Barnard College of Columbia University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Music.
