Violinist In Sun Jang has built a multifaceted career as a soloist, chamber musician, educator, and orchestral musician, appearing on leading stages across Asia and the United States. A top prize winner at the International Henryk Szeryng Violin Competition, she made her Korean recital debut at Kumho Art Center in Seoul and her Japanese recital debut in Fukuoka and Shiida. Invited by Isaac Stern to perform at Carnegie Hall in 2001, she has also collaborated with renowned artists including Menahem Pressler, Thomas Adès, and the Orion String Quartet. She has appeared as soloist with the Santa Cruz Symphony, New World Symphony, Puchon Philharmonic, and Nanpa Festival Orchestra.
A native of Seoul, Korea, Jang began studying the violin and piano at age four. She is a graduate of The Juilliard School and the New England Conservatory, where she studied with Donald Weilerstein and Naoko Tanaka. A former concertmaster of the New World Symphony, she is a first violinist with the San Francisco Symphony and a coach for the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra.
