Mezzo-soprano Grace Ryan will receive her Master of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre, and Dance in spring 2026. Upon graduation, she is scheduled to cover the title role the American premiere of the 1831 bel canto opera Fausto as a Studio Artist with Opera Neo in San Diego, California, and she will follow this with an engagement as Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro as a Studio Artist with Finger Lakes Opera. In 2025, she was a Summer Studio Artist with Florentine Opera.
An accomplished competitor, Ryan won the 2026 International Luciano Pavarotti Foundation Opera Naples Voice Competition, after winning third place in the Midwest Region of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. Additional honors include awards from the George and Nora London Foundation and Opera Index. Ryan earned her undergraduate degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Education from DePaul University, where she performed leading operatic roles, appeared frequently as a soloist, and served as a teaching artist through DePaul Community Music in Chicago Public Schools. A Chicago native, she has been thrilled to sing the Star Spangled Banner at Wrigley Field for the Chicago Cubs for three consecutive seasons.
