Claire Manjarres

Claire Manjarrès is a stage director. She grew up in the suburbs of Paris and studied dance, theater, jazz singing, and opera singing. Her diverse cultural education, ranging from urban and world music to classical music, gave her a taste for mixing arts and styles in her productions.

In 2018, she founded the OP'LA! company, which specializes in adapting operas into short, participatory versions for families. She staged G. Donizetti's L'Élixir d'amour with an accordion, then J. Massenet's Une autre histoire de Manon with the Saint-Étienne, Massy, Vichy, and Limoges opera theatres.

Then she directed Treemonisha by S.Joplin in 2024 for the Bordeaux Opera, and Best'Offenbach in 2025 for the Limoges Opera. She worked as a playwright for the ballet Prométhée of Beethoven by choreographer Martin Harriague at the Avignon Opera in 2025.

In 2027, she will co-direct Monteverdi's Le retour d'Ulysse with the urban choreographer Anne Nguyen.

Claire enjoys passing on her knowledge and is also trained in social theater and improvisational theater. She gives workshops and master classes for choirs, soloists, young singers, and also amateurs, children and others.

In June 2027, she will assist the director Claus Guth at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence.
