Since the very beginning, the Trefethen family put their faith in the land and the estate-born fruit they gleaned from it. “It is an eternal process,” writes Lorenzo Trefethen, who is now, along with his sister Hailey, at the helm of his family’s legendary winery. “Each question answered reveals another to be asked—but it’s a journey we love and take with each other every year.”
Fifty years, to be exact—and that’s certainly something to celebrate. The Trefethen family hosts tonight’s history-making evening of food, wine and music - spiked with tropical flavor.
The evening kicks off with a festive reception featuring Napa-bounty bites and Trefethen’s sensational estate wines. Then comes the music! Trefethen hosts the exclusive engagement of legendary Cuban band Grupo Compay Segundo, who make their way to Napa direct from Havana. Led by legendary Cuban guitarist, singer, and songwriter Compay Segundo until his death in 2003, this classic Cuban ensemble is now conducted by his son, bassist Salvador Repilado, who performed with his father on the recording phenomenon known as the Buena Vista Social Club. Joining Repilado are maracas-playing lead vocalist Hugo Garzon, two clarinetists, two singing guitarists, a percussionist and a harmonica player. Elegant, passionate and swinging – this ensemble will put a spell on you.
Then, guests will dance the night away at an after party, where a DJ will spin into the wee hours at Trefethen’s stunning historic bar, just reopened this past May after being lovingly restored from the damage it endured in the 2014 earthquake.
Get ready for a legendary night.

Trefethen Family Vineyards
Celebrating 50 years! Just north of the town of Napa, where the valley’s earliest vineyards were planted in the 1800s, is Trefethen Family Vineyards. Their historic wooden winery, built in 1886, stands sentinel over vast plantings of perfectly trellised grapevines. Gene and Katie Trefethen purchased this old winery and the surrounding vineyards in 1968. The winery was in a state of disrepair and their son John and his bride, Janet, took the challenge of restoring the old winery to become one of Napa’s foremost wine producers. In 1973, Trefethen released their first commercial wine. True to the family’s vision of creating an acclaimed wine estate, they have grown every grape for every bottle of Trefethen. Today, the Trefethen family’s third generation, Lorenzo and Hailey, assist their parents in continuing the family tradition of passion for the land, its people, and the art of crafting exceptional Napa Valley wines.
