board of directors
Peter is a third-generation co-proprietor of Charles Krug Winery, an iconic family-owned and operated winery based in St. Helena, California. As the grandson of Cesare and Rosa Mondavi—the pioneering visionaries who purchased Charles Krug Winery in 1943—Peter has played a vital role in maintaining and expanding the legacy of Napa Valley’s Great Estate.
Growing up on the property and immersed in vineyard and winery operations from a young age, Peter developed a lifelong passion for winemaking that continues to drive his commitment to progress and positive change for both the winery and the industry.
Peter followed in his father’s footsteps by pursuing a robust education at Stanford University, where he earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering, an MS in Engineering Management, and later an MBA. This combined technical and business expertise has been instrumental in the development of the historic Charles Krug Winery, including the design and implementation of a state-of-the-art winemaking facility and the execution of long-term strategic plans that ensure the winery’s success for generations to come.
A respected gure in the wine industry, Peter is actively involved in numerous wine and food organizations, including the Wine and Food Society of San Francisco and the American Wine Society. He has also served on boards such as the Family Winemakers of California, Stanford GSB, and Wine and Food Society of San Francisco. As a guest lecturer in family business at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, he shares his expertise and insights with future leaders. Peter currently serves on the Board of Directors for C. Mondavi & Family/Charles Krug Winery.
Peter resides in Napa Valley with his wife, Katie Williams-Mondavi. Their children, Lucio and Lia, represent his family’s next generation of leadership and innovation. Lucio, a Stanford graduate, has pursued careers in automotive engineering and now in management consulting, while Lia, a Harvard graduate, has worked in food-tech startups and is now advancing her studies in architecture.
