Fifty years ago, Robert Mondavi founded his namesake winery at To Kalon Vineyard. He was fueled by his passion for good wine, food and art and his determination to make wines that measured up to any the world had to offer.
With the help of his wife Margrit, to whom the festival dedicates its 2016 season, he not only achieved his goal of bringing international acclaim and attention to Napa Valley winemaking, he also transformed the cultural life of the region and beyond.
Tonight the festival toasts that fruitful 50-year legacy with a very special dinner at Robert Mondavi Winery
. The evening begins with wines overlooking the famed To Kalon Vineyard, which produces some of the world's finest Cabernets and the Sauvignon Blanc grapes from which Mondavi made his signature Fumé Blanc.
The 2016 season comes to a magnificent close with an elegant meal prepared by esteemed Executive Chef Jeff Mosher. Dinner will be paired with wines from Mondavi's prized collection, selected by winemaker Genevieve Jannsens. Guests will dine in the Margrit Mondavi Vineyard Room, named for Margrit in recognition of her lifelong efforts to blend fine wine, art, music and cuisine – the hallmark of so much that is special about Napa.
