On March 7, 2024 Festival Napa Valley presented composer Gordon Getty with its Angels of the Arts Award in a celebratory ceremony at San Francisco’s War Memorial Green Room. The elegant evening featured intimate musical performances by Alexandra Armantrading, Lisa Delan, Frederica von Stade, Nathan Granner, Lester Lynch, Curt Branom, David Barnett, Kevin Korth, and Jake Heggie and special tributes from Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Governor Gavin Newsom, Mayor London Breed, John Corigliano, Joyce DiDonato, and Francisco J. Núñez and the Young People’s Chorus of New York City.
Festival Napa Valley’s signature celebration of exceptional food, wine, and music is set to take place on Saturday, July 13 from 12 pm to 3 pm on The Meritage Resort’s Grand Reserve lawn. Festival Napa Valley kicks off its 18th summer season in grand style with a concert featuring a world premiere and three internationally renowned stars. South African soprano Pretty Yende, who sang at the coronation of King Charles III last year, joins tenor Jonathan Tetleman to perform a selection of favorite opera arias and duets under the baton of Maestro Carlo Montanaro. Sol Two by composer Yang Bao, who captivated audiences at the Festival last summer, receives its world premiere.
