Grammy-winning musician Lionel Richie is slated to make his way to Wine Country this summer to usher in Festival Napa Valley’s summer season.

The organization announced the global superstar will be performing at its annual charity event, the Arts for All Gala, on July 14.

“We’re thrilled that Lionel Richie is headlining Festival Napa Valley’s 2024 Arts for All Gala,” said vintner Leslie Frank, gala chair and festival board member. “The gala is the most important night of the festival, raising funds that support our year-round programs, and Lionel Richie is a beloved, iconic musician whose music transcends generations and unites a diverse audience. It’s going to be a fabulous night.”

Richie, who initially rose to fame as part of the 1970s funk and soul group the Commodores, currently serves as a judge on “American Idol” and is in the midst of his “King of Hearts” residency at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas. A former Outside Lands music festival headliner, the singer returned to San Francisco in September for his “Sing a Song All Night Long” tour, which made a stop at Chase Center.

Past gala headliners include country singer Carrie Underwood, R&B artist and actress Jennifer Hudson, and Broadway singer and actress Kristin Chenoweth.

The annual Napa Valley arts charity event has raised more than $24 million since it began in 2010, supporting education programs for public school students in Napa County and scholarships for emerging musicians from around the world.
