By Francisco Salazar

The 2024 Manetti Shrem Opera Prizewinners have been announced, revealing soprano Pretty Yende and tenor Jonathan Tetelman as the 2024 recipients.

The prize is awarded annually to two extraordinary rising stars in the opera world and was created through a generous gift from Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem as part of the multifaceted Manetti Shrem Opera Program at Festival Napa Valley. The Prize includes a $10,000 career development grant as well as performance engagements in the Festival’s summer season.

Yende and Tetelman will perform at the Uytengsu Family Opening Night on the Festival Napa Valley Stage at Charles Krug on July 12.

Tetelman recently made his Met debut in “La Rondine,” while Yende is in the middle of a production of “Giulio Cesare” in Frankfurt.
