Festival del Sole’s First Ever Sun Run

April 03, 2015

Festival del Sole is a celebration of the art of life. Thus, a major component of our enriching 10-day festival is wellness. So, in our landmark 10th season, we are introducing our biggest fitness event yet: the Sun Run.

This 5K and 10K race starts at Lincoln Theater in Yountville, and all are invited to set their own pace. Whether you run, jog, saunter or walk, all will enjoy the charm and beauty of the Napa Valley Vine Trail. All proceeds from the festival’s Sun Run will go to support the Napa County Alliance for Arts Education, a coalition dedicated to optimizing arts education access, equity and quality in Napa County K-12 public schools.

The Sun Run 5K route (in yellow, left) begins at Lincoln Theater, at the Veteran’s Home. The course runs along California Drive, beneath a canopy of fir and oak trees, before it connects to the Napa Valley Vine Trail. Participants will traverse the completed one-mile section of trail adjacent to beautiful Yountville as part of the course's out and back route.

The Sun Run 10K course (in red, left) also will begin at Lincoln Theater and follow the same course along California Drive. Runners will then follow the trail north, adjacent to Yountville, past gardens, shops and restaurants. At the north end of the trail, the 10K course will tour a quaint neighborhood before returning to the Vine Trail. The course retraces its footsteps south on the Vine Trail and then passes beneath Highway 29. The runners will then head north to a turn around on Solano Avenue, along the vineyards of Domaine Chandon. Upon returning from the out and back section, the 10K course runs clockwise around the grounds of the Veterans Home and along California Drive. After passing the baseball field, the race returns to the finish area at Lincoln Theater.

Register now and join us for a morning of fitness and fun in the sun.
