Monday at the Symphony Beethoven and LeFrak at Lincoln Theater

The Blackburn Academy Orchestra shines in tonight’s concert featuring three world premiere concertos and orchestral favorites. Maestro Joel Revzen leads the Orchestra in Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony, Pastoral, which the composer called “the expression of feeling” and Stravinsky’s inventive and colorful Firebird Suite, a shorter, revised suite of his wildly popular ballet.The program also features the world premiere of three concertos - for violin, cello, and piano - composed by noted author and composer Karen LeFrak.

Joel Revzen

Joel Revzen is an award-winning conductor who leads symphony and opera performances throughout North America and Europe and who recently made his Metropolitan Opera conducting debut, leading performances of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin. He has served as the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor for Classical Tahoe since its founding in 2012.

Karen LeFrak is a composer and philanthropic New Yorker whose works have been performed by the New York Philharmonic principal brass, the percussion departments of the Juilliard School and NYU, and the Shanghai Symphony, as well as for the ABT Studio Company, NY Theatre Ballet, and Youth America Grand Prix.
