Vintner's Luncheon at Zakin Family Estate (invitation only)
12:00 PM
Jonathan and Janice Zakin’s bespoke three-acre estate, rimming the Howell Mountain AVA, contains some of the last intensely steep hillside vineyards procured in Napa Valley, making it a rare site indeed. Rare also is the Cabernet Sauvignon gleaned and made here by the renowned Phillipe Melka, whose love of both the science and art of winemaking has made him one of the most in-demand craftsmen in the Napa Valley.

With the sounds of classical guitarist Jiji plucking out a perfect St. Helena-worthy soundtrack, guests at today's luncheon will be treated to Melka's small-production 2013 Zakin Family Estate Cabernet. Overlooking astounding views of the valley, guests will dine on expressive dishes from The Restaurant at Meadowood’s famed chef, Christopher Kostow.

Today’s luncheon is a special, invitation-only affair, and recognizes the major bidders who have supported the festival’s Arts for All Gala.

Featuring high ceilings and gorgeous redwood support beams from the 1880s, the Chardonnay Cellar plays an essential role in Far Niente’s winemaking - it is where the iconic Far Niente Estate Bottled Chardonnay matures in French Oak Burgundy barrels. Guests will be treated to the winery’s ever gracious hospitality and exhilarating food and wine pairings.

Joshua Bell's Seasons of Cuba at Far Niente
7:30 PM
One of the great wine estates of the world, Far Niente hosts tonight’s celebration saluting the music and culture of Cuba. Headlining is the renowned violinist and conductor Joshua Bell – a Grammy Award-winning virtuoso.

The festivities begin at Far Niente’s Cabernet Grill, where Cuban and other culinary delights will be paired with Far Niente’s superlative vintages.

Then Bell leads the Havana Chamber Orchestra, pianist Aldo López-Gavilán and soprano Larisa Martínez in a vibrant program that spans from Vivaldi classics to Piazzolla tangos and beyond. This artistic collaboration, which began in 2016 when Bell traveled to Havana as part of the US government’s inaugural cultural mission to Cuba under President Obama, illustrates cultural diplomacy at its very best.

A spirited after party, featuring the infectious rhythms of a live Latin band, Dolce-jitos (made with the winery’s “liquid gold” Dolce) and Cuba’s highly-prized cigars, caps off this celebratory evening.

Havana Chamber Orchestra appearance made possible with generous support from Claire and Steven Stull
Larisa Martínez appears as part of the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Vocal Arts Series
