The ten best days of summer return to wine country this July 12-21. The 14th annual Festival Napa Valley coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon and this achievement will be celebrated at the musical extravaganza. Over 60 concerts featuring opera, chamber music, jazz and more will take place at luxe locations throughout Napa.

Inspired by the lunar landing, this year’s underlying theme is one of innovation, exploration, and discovery. “We are honored to dedicate this season to celebrating one of humanity’s transcendent achievements and our passion for continued exploration and discovery,” Richard Walker, the president & CEO of Festival Napa Valley said in a statement. “From Holst’s The Planets to Diavolo’s Voyage to the Moon, we will take our guests on an unforgettable journey.”

The opening night event, Opera Under the Stars, at Meadowood Napa Valley will feature Italian tenor Francesco Demuro and Georgian soprano Nino Machaidze. Four-time Grammy winner Seal will perform at the Arts for All Gala at Hall, Broadway legend Patti LuPone will sing at Calistoga Ranch, and Wonder Bread 5 headlines the Taste of Napa. There’s also a showing of Star Wars: A New Hope accompanied by the Festival Orchestra Napa, a dance show with a Los Angeles-based company called Diavolo | Architecture in Motion, and much more. Festival Napa Valley is expanding its educational program for 1600 students ages 6-18 and is hosting a tuition-free music academy for 90 pre-professional artists from around the world. Plus, 6000 free tickets will be handed out to veterans, students, and seniors. Last year’s festival raised a record-setting $2.5, and you can rest assured that come July this number will be blown out of the water.
